player name(s): Daz
character(s): Pudding
area of exploration: A culmination of general foodening and minor explorations / experimentations in mostly "safe" places
date(s) of exploration: Things have been Happening since the flood, but let's say late February ~ early March for culmination
plan: Pudding has been testing a lot of cooking and cooking-related things throughout the year. Major end goal here is providing some level of help making more of the resistance potion, as well as making a healthy stock of other potions for the final fight. Minor end goal is making things as sustainable as possible in Beacon, should enough people survive / stay / come in to need it. She's staying here unless doing so becomes untenable, after all.

Things she's been up to:
  • Experimenting in the Eerily Cold And Damp pantry in The Invincible. Attempts at growing mushrooms, sprouts, local flora, and especially the medicinal plants from the early greenhouse explore. Storing small amounts of foods that ferment or age in cold temperatures. Storing small amounts of foods that should be kept cold for preservation. She's been checking on everything and taking notes every three days to a week.

  • Drying surplus foods with the heat at the back of the stove, on top of ovens, etc. Anything that can be easily preserved. All the plant protein.

  • Canning. Lots of canning. Jellies, pickles, and attempts to preserve anything high in protein. She's saved every viable jar from prepackaged foods that come in with supplies and is reusing whatever of them will seal properly with stovetop canning methods.

  • Lots and lots of cultivation of those medicinal plants in the greenhouse. She's seeded or rooted cuttings (experimenting with both and using whatever method yields best results), using every available greenhouse space that isn't being used for food or other projects, especially vertical shelving.

  • Lots and LOTS of experimenting with those medicinal plants to see what yields the most potent results, including low-temperature slow roasting, oven-drying, freeze-drying, air drying, pickling, stewing, reductions, oil infusions, tinctures with various different kinds of alcohol, tisanes, etc. All of the liquid methods attempted with fresh, various dried, dried and powdered, etc. Attempts for food and potions.

  • Seeing how well she can make salves and potions in her NO TOMATO pot. 8|b Worth a try for that extra volume of output. If so she's absolutely gonna try that on the resistance potion recipe once they figure it out.

is your group willing to accept risk of serious injury/death? I GUESS??
